Cougars Deliver Historic Weekend

From Franklin Field to the final strides and throws on campus, George School track and field athletes put together one of the program’s most impressive four‑day stretches of the season, beginning Thursday at the Penn Relays and concluding Sunday at the GS Decathlon and Heptathlon. George School left its mark across record boards and all‑time performance lists.

Essentials of an Intercultural Friends Community (EIFC) is an introductory course for all ninth-grade students. It provides academic and executive-functioning coaching, as well as orientation to the social and philosophical expectations of their new community. EIFC offers an introduction for students to life at George School and to the application of Quaker practices and principles as a framework for living. It emphasizes self-awareness, motivation, goal setting, organization, communication and the establishment of a growth mindset through research-based practices.

The Power of Being Known: A Family’s George School Experience

Quaker education fosters belonging, confidence and lifelong ways of thinking that shape not only successful students, but grounded, compassionate humans prepared for the world. In 2023, Susan and Edna gave their enthusiasm for tiny homes and intentional living a name (“Living Large: Spiritual Design in Small-Space Living”) and created a course (their shorthand for it is the “Tiny House class”) that includes classroom work and, every other year, fieldwork in New Orleans. The course challenges 11th and 12th graders to examine societal norms that call for mindless excess … and recognize their agency to make other choices.

Giving challenges have become an exciting part of the Great Green Give. Each year, challenge donors inspire the George School community by offering opportunities to double or triple the impact of their gift.The Cadwallader family established a challenge fund for the arts during last year’s Great Green Give that created impact larger than themselves.
