Instructions for Chinese Applicants

To better facilitate the interview process for our students from mainland China, we partner with Vericant. Non-native English speaking students who reside and attend school in mainland China are required to interview with a representative from Vericant before scheduling an interview at George School.

Vericant will conduct preliminary interviews and candidates will complete short writing samples during their visit with Vericant. Vericant does not evaluate candidates, but rather sends all information to George School for assessment. George School then will determine which students will be offered a second interview with a member of the George School Admission Office staff.

Non-native English speaking students from mainland China currently studying in the United States or in another country will have a Skype interview with a member of the Admission team in advance of an on-campus interview offer. Please contact the Admission Office to schedule that Skype interview.

Vericant interviews should be completed by January 1.

Please allow up to three weeks from our receipt of the Vericant interview to receive a response from George School. Your Vericant interview will not be reviewed until you have completed our online inquiry form.

Please note: your application fee does not include costs associated with the Vericant interview.

Frequently Asked Questions about Vericant

When is the Vericant deadline for your school?

Vericant interviews should be completed by January 1. This will allow approved Vericant applicants the opportunity to complete the required second round interview. There are a limited amount of George School interview appointments. Due to the high volume of submissions, students who complete their Vericant interview after December 10 may find there are no remaining George School interview appointments available.

I am already studying in the US this year. Do I have to interview with Vericant?

Because Vericant only works with applicants in mainland China, we do not require Vericant interviews for students studying in the US at another school. Instead, non-native English speaking students from mainland China currently studying in the United States or in another country will have a Skype interview with a member of the Admission team in advance of an on-campus interview offer. Please contact the Admission Office to schedule that Skype interview. Due to the high volume of requests, students who request an interview appointment after January 1 may find there are no remaining George School interview appointments available.

After I finish my Vericant interview, what kind of response will I receive from George School?

Please allow up to three weeks from our receipt of the Vericant interview to receive a response from George School. Please also note that your Vericant interview will not be reviewed until you have completed our online inquiry form.

You will receive one of the following three responses:
1. Vericant approved for an on-campus or Skype interview.
2. Vericant approved for a Skype interview only.
3. Not Vericant approved.

May I submit a late Vericant interview to George School?

You may still contact Vericant for your interview after January 1. George School will review your application materials and Vericant interview as spaces remain available. To learn more about Vericant and schedule an interview, please visit www.vericant.com.

I plan to visit campus. Do I have to interview with Vericant?

Yes. Last year we received more requests for campus visits than we could accommodate. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer campus visits to all applicants. This year due to the high number of applications from China, we require a preliminary interview with Vericant for all mainland Chinese applicants before we will schedule a campus visit.

I work with a very good consultant. Do I have to interview with Vericant?

Yes, we require the Vericant interview for all applicants from China. If the consultant with whom you are working has questions about this requirement, he or she may contact the George School Admission Office directly.
