There was a record turnout for Alumni Weekend on May 4-6, 2018. More than 700 hundred alumni and guests returned to campus to share memories, reconnect with old friends, and enjoy the festivities.
Friday’s events included an all-school assembly with Kareem Afzal ’93 (p ’21), who spoke about hydrogen fueling technology. A special legacy and loyalty luncheon was held Friday afternoon for invited donors. That evening, the community honored retiring faculty and staff and greeted alumni at the Alumni Welcome Reception.
Early Saturday morning, runners lined up for the Alumni Weekend Cross Country 5k Classic, sponsored by the Class of 1993. Students from the spring service learning trip to South Africa talked about their experiences.
The portrait of Julian Bond ’57 was unveiled in the meetinghouse. Afterwards, Head of School Sam Houser and former Heads David Bourns and Nancy Starmer reflected on four decades of leadership and vision in a panel discussion.
Saturday afternoon activities included reunion class photos and lunches followed by an amazing 125th Birthday Party and Carnival on South Lawn. Alumni held off-campus reunion events Saturday evening.
On Sunday, alumni returned to the George School meetinghouse for meeting for worship followed by brunch in the dining room.
A heartfelt thank you to all of the alumni and volunteers who made the weekend so special.
