Richard T. T. Forman ’53 Publishes New Book

Frequently cited as a trailblazer in the fields of landscape, road, and urban ecology, Richard T.T. Forman ’53 is breaking new ground in the field of town ecology. Towns, Ecology, and the Land (2019) is his latest in a distinguished bibliography that includes a well-known textbook (Land Mosaics: The Ecology of Landscapes and Regions).

Jaki Shelton Green ’71 Named Poet Laureate

The ninth North Carolina Poet Laureate and the first African American, Jaki Shelton Green ’71 is using her post to promote not only poetry but social justice. On February 4, 2020, she headlined the annual Writers’ Night at Friends School of Wilmington, and on April 25, she will present at the Literary Changemakers Youth Symposium in Durham.

Walton Exhibit Tells Story of Coal Mining

Caleb Savage ’11 presented his documentary photography exhibit, The Hard Coal Project, in a gallery talk and reception on Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Walton Center. Geno McDermott ’04 Brings Killer Inside to Netflix

Netflix’s new documentary series Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez debuted after much anticipation on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. The three-episode series, produced and directed by Geno McDermott ’04, explores the former NFL player’s involvement in the 2015 murder of his future brother-in-law, his prison suicide, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

Nobel Prize winner and George School graduate, Dr. Mario Capecchi ’56, recently visited campus to teach science classes and meet with students. Mario’s research and work on gene targeting in mice is renowned in the field of science.

Vanishing Dice Murder: Urban Crime in Rural Pennsylvania , is based on a true homicide investigation from south-central Pennsylvania. Steve was appointed to represent the defendant and recounts the entire trial in the book.

Carter Sio ’76 Selected to Exhibit at Works in Wood 20th Anniversary

Works in Wood is an annual exhibit in Bucks County, which honors the rich cultural heritage of Bucks County woodworking while celebrating the new visions of the county’s contemporary artists. The exhibition runs from Saturday, October 5 to Sunday, November 10, with an opening reception and awards presentation on Saturday, October 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Entertainment One has acquired Blackfin and founder and CEO, Geno McDermott ’04, will become president of US unscripted programming. “We are extremely impressed by the company and team Geno built so early into his career,” said Tara Long, president of global unscripted at Entertainment One, to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jean Morrison ’76 Speaks on Capitol Hill

Jean Morrison ’76 was invited by the US House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology to testify about sexual harassment in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) this summer.
