Violinist and science teacher Alyssa McGarvey has been selected to perform with the Refugee Orchestra Project. The group will perform Amjad Ali Khaan’s Samaagam for political leaders from across the globe during the United Nations National Assembly.

“I am grateful to be playing with the Refugee Orchestra Project once again,” said Alyssa. “Their mission of spreading awareness of refugee stories through music is close to my heart. I am honored to be part of such a special celebration of peace and nonviolence.”

The Refugee Orchestra Project brings together musicians whose friends and families have fled to the United States to escape violence and persecution in performances that loudly proclaim these individuals’ importance to cultural wealth.

The performance will take place at the UN Headquarters in New York City on October 24 at 7:00 p.m.
