Discover your creative voice

Produce a podcast interviewing refugees in Greece, show your short film at the Tribeca Film Festival, record your original song with your friends in our audio recording studio, build a kitchen table using wood collected on our campus, perform on the stage where Stephen Sondheim ’46 cut his teeth — our students have done all of this and more. Your ideas will be encouraged, celebrated, and supported here, and the only limit is your imagination.

Creative Collaboration + Self Expression
= Self Discovery

Creative Collaboration

Our arts community is strong and welcoming. You can put your art and soul into Argo (art and literary magazine),  Live Music Weekend (two days of live student musical performances), or one of our three mainstage theater productions with friends and faculty who are just as invested in honing their craft as you are.

Self-Expression

With 12 different arts disciplines and 50+ arts courses, including AP and IB-level courses, whether you want to dance, direct, act, record music, perform, paint, sculpt, or even design furniture from trees on campus, you’ll find your creative outlet here.

Self-Discovery

Studying the arts at George School will teach you to look at the world through a different lens, in a different light, and from a different perspective.

Yes, you may learn how to handle a paint brush, a potter’s wheel, or your own voice. But you’ll also learn about dedication. You’ll learn to find joy in challenge. You will be inspired by amazing teachers, many of whom are working professional artists.

At George School, studying the arts will help you see the world with fresh eyes (and ears) and realize how far your creativity can take you.

Find your spark.

Self-expression has long been a cornerstone of a George School education.

In image and song and dance and performance, students tell stories of self-discovery, explore new perspectives, and integrate ideas and experiences from other classes and other parts of their lives. Students regularly exhibit their work at the local and national levels.  In recent years, our students have won awards at the Tribeca Film Festival, received national medals in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and exhibited at the National K-12 Ceramics Exhibition.

Arts Disciplines

Dive into a wide range of performing and visual arts disciplines, from theater and dance to painting and woodworking. You'll experiment with different artistic mediums and collaborate with others, all while developing your unique own creative voice.
