Home Directions To George School
George School lost a competitive home game against Father Judge by a score of 2-4.
George School started the game off well, linking play in the midfield, switching the field, and putting a few crosses into the box. However, it did not take long for Father Judge to take control of the game. They kept George School keeper, Chase Johnson, very busy. He made a few excellent saves but was beaten twice by Father Judge's fast attackers.
George School conceded one more goal shortly after halftime, going down 3-0. Shortly after the visitors third goal, midfielder Justin Liu played a great through ball to George School's striker, Aditya Tipre. He outpaced a defender and produced an excellent finish from about 20 yards out. Five minutes later, Aditya scored his second goal. This goal was a result of high pressure on the Father Judge defense by Aditya and Darwin Zhou. They won the ball deep in the opponents territory, and Aditya made no mistake tucking the ball into the net. Father Judge quickly killed George School's newfound momentum with a goal of their own following some chaos in George School's penalty area. Down by a score of 2-4, George School kept pushing and creating opportunities. Most notable was a great run by Emmett Schmucker who was fouled in the box to earn George School a penalty. Tim Ruch, who was playing as a central defender for most of the game, also nearly got on the score sheet after following a up a blocked shot with a shot of his own that was tipped off the bar by Father Judge's keeper. It was an exciting game, and a good start to the season despite the final result for George School.

George School @ Church Farm School

Friday, September 13, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m.
Win 4-0
George School earned their first win of the season by a score of 4-0 at Church Farm on Friday.
George School spent most of the game in the attacking third of the field, creating lots of chances. Left midfielder, Aaron Yager scored the only goal of the first half off of a nice low cross from midfielder Justin Liu. Justin continued to be very influential in the game with a pair of beautiful corner kicks in the second half. First, Justin curled a corner into the net that was caught by the Church Farm keeper. However, as the keeper lost his balance running into his own net, he was forced to throw the ball behind him. Defensive midfielder, Stephen Hill, was positioned perfectly to shoot the ball back into the net. With his next corner kick, Justin bent in a beautiful shot that went untouched into the far top corner of the net. Any keeper would have struggled to save it. Justin then rounded out the scoring with another goal, assisted by Emmett Schmucker.
George School's next game is on Wednesday (9/18) at Princeton Day School.

Loss 0-4
Despite a strong second-half effort, George School was defeated at Princeton Day School by a score of 4-0.
PDS showed their experience and tenacity in the first half, beating George School to almost every ball in the air. They kept the ball almost entirely in George School's half and went to halftime up 3-0. If it were not for the heroics of goalkeeper, Chase Johnson '23, and central defender, Derek Denoon '23, things could have been much worse.
After regrouping at halftime, George School had a much better second half. They created a few good chances from open play, won a penalty kick, and earned several corner kicks. However, they still failed to find the back of the net, and the game ended 4-0 in favor of PDS.

The first half was quite sloppy, with players on both sides bunching around the ball and neither team finding much of a rhythm. The game opened up more in the second half, and George School began to control the ball in the offensive half. Garrison Euler scored his first of the season off of a nice cross from central defender/midfielder, Tim Ruch. George School's second came after a scramble in the box, where the ball caromed off several players on both teams before trickling into the net. No one was certain who had the final touch. George School's third goal was courtesy of goalkeeper Chase Johnson, who was playing his first half of the year in the field. There could have been more, but Church Farm's keeper had a fantastic game.
