Boys Cross Country at George School

George School’s cross-country team competes in the Friends Schools League and trains on our beautiful, wooded, challenging on-campus course — home of the historic George School Invitational.

Led by Coach Michael Sherman, the team welcomes runners of all speeds and experience levels, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.

ACCOLADES

  • Recent Achievements: In 2025, Owen Burgess and Michael Mascari earned All-FSL First Team honors, while Asher Schmidt received Honorable Mention. These individual accolades build on the team’s strong performances in recent years, including a runner-up finish in 2023 and a third-place finish in 2024.

Head Coach Mike Sherman '83 

Head Coach Mike Sherman leads George School’s Boys’ Varsity Cross Country team with energy, experience, and a deep commitment to student growth. A former collegiate runner and USATF Level 1 certified coach, Mike blends competitive drive with a focus on team culture and personal development. His coaching emphasizes goal setting, consistent effort and mutual respect — helping athletes build strength, confidence and character on and off the course.
