Girls Cross-Country at George School

George School’s Cross-Country team competes in the Friends Schools League and trains on our beautiful, wooded, challenging on-campus course — home of the historic George School Invitational each fall.

Led by Coach Michael Sherman, the team welcomes runners of all speeds and experience levels, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.

ACCOLADES

  • Individual Champions: The program has produced standout runners, including Jerrica Bauer (2013 & 2015) and Margaret Massengill (2023), who won the FSL Championship on our home course with a time of 18:56.50.

Meet the Coaches

Head Coach Mike Sherman '83 

Head Coach Mike Sherman brings passion, experience, and a strong team-first mindset to George School’s Varsity Cross Country program. A former collegiate runner and USATF Level 1 certified coach, Mike fosters a supportive environment where athletes grow through hard work, respect and goal-setting. His leadership has guided the team to notable success, including the 2023 FSL Girls' Individual Champion, while inspiring runners to push past limits on and off the course.
