Accomplishments
Michael Q. Bailey brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished track record to George School. Prior to his current role, he served as the Head Women’s Track & Field Coach at the University of Southern California. Michael has a decorated career, being a National AAU/TAC Decathlon Champion and coaching or assisting 18 Olympians. He has also coached 67 NCAA Division 1 All-America student-athletes at USC.
Coaching Achievements
At George School, Michael has led his teams to significant victories. His leadership has brought home 3 PAISAA Girls Indoor Track & Field State Championships and 1 PAISAA Boys Indoor Track & Field State Championship. Most recently, in 2024, he guided the boys' track & field team to a Friends Schools League (FSL) Championship.
Coaching Philosophy
Michael’s coaching philosophy centers on progression rather than perfection. He emphasizes that everyone has a starting point and the goal is to continually improve. He encourages his student-athletes to strive for personal records (PRs) in every competition, believing that doing their best is an achievement in itself, whether or not it results in a win. His approach nurtures a mindset of growth, resilience, and self-improvement, fostering a supportive and competitive environment where athletes can thrive.
