Accomplishments
La'Keisha Sutton has a distinguished background in basketball, recently being inducted into the Mercer County Basketball Hall of Fame on November 18, 2023, and the Catholic Youth Organization Hall of Fame on April 16, 2023. Her impressive career and dedication to the sport have also been reflected in her achievements as a coach at George School.
Coaching Achievements
During her tenure at George School, La'Keisha has led her team to notable successes, including having two players named to the All-Friends Schools League (FSL) First Team in 2023. Under her guidance, Gianna Johnson became the first player in the Sutton Era to earn a Division I scholarship and will attend the University of Delaware, while Sophia Martinez will continue her basketball career at Skidmore College.
Coaching Philosophy
La'Keisha's coaching style is holistic, focusing on the overall development of student-athletes physically, emotionally, academically, and spiritually. She aims to build confidence and enhance skill sets to help athletes achieve their personal goals. Her program philosophy revolves around the acronym C.A.R.E., which stands for Communication, Accountability, Resiliency, and Enthusiasm. She emphasizes the importance of each player caring about one another and the legacy they are creating together.
