The girls came up just a bit short against the defending league Champions. The girls' meet saw first place finishes for George School from Skylar Karpf in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, and Sara Matson in the 500 freestyle. Second place finishes today came from the 200 medley relay (Lea Jensen, Eden Jones, Sara Matson, Skylar Karpf), Sara Matson in the 200 individual medley, Eden Jones in the 50 freestyle with Mya Peter taking third giving the Cougars a top three sweep in that event, the 200 freestyle relay (Eden Jones, Caroline Eagen, Mya Peter, Maisy Cadwallader), Lea Jensen in the 100 backstroke, Mya Peter in the 100 breaststroke, and the 400 freestyle relay (Skylar Karpf, Maisy Cadwallader, Lea Jensen, Sara Matson).
Today’s meet results have the girls’ season record so far at 3-2. Both the girls and boys teams face Shipley and Moorestown Friends in upcoming dual meet competition before finishing the season at FSL League Championships, being held here at George School, on February 9th. Let’s go Cougars!!
George School vs Shipley School—Tuesday, January 22, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m.
The GS girls' team took charge of the meet early on with first-place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay (Lea Jensen, Mya Peter, Sara Matson, Skylar Karpf), the 200 Freestyle (Sara Matson), and the 200 Individual Medley (Skylar Karpf). They proceeded to keep the momentum going with more first place finishes in the 100 Butterfly (Caroline Eagen), the 100 Freestyle (Mya Peter), the 500 Freestyle (Skylar Karpf), the 200 Freestyle Relay (Caroline Eagen, Mya Peter, Emilie Wrese-Garand, Alice Ke), the 100 Backstroke (Sara Matson), the 100 Breaststroke (Mya Peter), and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Skylar Karpf, Maisy Cadwallader, Lea Jensen, Sara Matson). Also supporting the girl’s victory were second place finishes in the 200 Freestyle (Caroline Eagen), the 200 Individual Medley (Lea Jensen, followed by Maisy Cadwallader for a GS sweep of the event), the 100 Freestyle (Alice Ke), the 500 Freestyle (Maisy Cadwallader, followed by Lea Jensen for a GS sweep of the event). Today’s victory moved the George School Girls to second overall in the league as we go into our last week of dual meet competition.
George School vs Moorestown Friends School—Tuesday, January 29, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m.
It was a pivotal meet for the girls' team on Tuesday! They came together and were a force to be reckoned with, toppling last year’s second place league finishers by 33 points! This gives the girls team an overall season record of 5-2 with a league record of 5-1 which has them in second place in the league overall after regular season competition. Today’s meet saw first-place finishes for George School in the 200 freestyle (Lea Jensen), the 200 Individual Medley (Sara Matson), the 500 freestyle (Ada Rose Wagar), the 100 backstroke (Sara Matson), plus a one-two finish in the 400 freestyle relay (First: Sara Matson, Caroline Eagen, Skylar Karpf, Eden Jones and Second: Maisy Cadwallader, Lea Jensen, Emilie Wrese-Garand, Mya Peter). The girls will be looking to finish the season with fast swims at FSL Championships next Saturday, February 9 here at George School!
