On Friday, February 16 members of the junior varsity and varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams welcomed athletes from the Special Olympics Bucks County Chapter to campus. The Cougars played a tough match against thirty-five of the talented guest athletes. George School cheerleaders cheered on both teams.
“It was a fantastic Friday night,” said Cheerleading Coach Sue Clarke-Curry. “Boys’ and girls’ basketball and the cheerleading squad ended their respective seasons with their best game ever. Everyone was a winner.”
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
