Abby Eisold ’20 Takes First at Indoor Pentathlon

Abby Eisold ’20 took first place, Neha Kotha ’22 took sixth, and Susanne Kowalska ’21 took eighth at the Purple Championship HS Invitational Indoor Pentathlon. The three varsity girls’ winter track members participated in 55-meter hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 800-meter run events.

Children of Eden Has Genesis at George School

Children of Eden takes to the Walton stage on Friday, February 21, 2020, and Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. Performances are free and open to the public.“The musical gives us the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the art of storytelling,” says Director and Arts Department Head Mo West, as it tells—and sings—the tales of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Noah and the flood.

Journalist Jill Abramson spoke at a George School assembly, highlighting the newsworthiness of the current political moment. She spoke about how it is not intellectual curiosity that is in decline, but rather trust in institutions that is on a downward slope. 

George School Students Shine in Scholastic Awards

Each year, the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards honor the vision, ingenuity, and talent of the nation’s youth, and provide opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. This year, a record twelve George School students were awarded thirteen Gold Keys for various works in writing and arts.

Theater Students Pilot New IB Curriculum

George School Theater students are part of a pilot project for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization to test a new curriculum for their global theater arts program. One of their four tasks within the IB Theater curriculum is to create a collaborative performance project that is seven to ten minutes long.

Students and Faculty Cross Disciplines for IB

When Alexandra Long ’20 was voted captain of the girls’ varsity basketball team four years ago, she was just a freshman. Her father, George Long, who coaches the team, was worried it would cause some angst among the team’s older players.

2020 Quaker Youth Conference to be held at George School

On Thursday, January 30, 2020 one hundred and fifty students and teachers from twenty-three Friends high schools from the US and Canada will descend upon the George School campus to participate in the 2020 Quaker Youth Leadership Conference (QYLC). George School last hosted in 2010.

Students Selected for Phillips’ Mill Exhibit

George School is pleased to announce that seven students have been selected to exhibit at the 2020 Phillips’ Mill Youth Art Exhibition. One student has been recognized with an honorable mention.

Ben Luber Leads Team to Winning Season

Coach Ben Luber joined the George School community just two months before leading the varsity boys’ basketball team to their first win. Since that time, the team has gone on to have a 10-5 record, including winning the last seven games.
