On August 16, nearly two hundred varsity student athletes arrived at George School to begin an intense two weeks of workouts, scrimmages, and teambuilding during the first preseason since 2019.
George School faculty members Meredith Baldi ’01 and Scott Seraydarian ’90 recently earned PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification by KQED. To earn this certification, Meredith and Scott demonstrated expertise in teaching students to think critically about their role as media consumers and creators and training other teachers to do so.
Starting August 30, the George School Community is invited to visit and view “One Kiln, Three Artists” in the Anderson Gallery. The gallery features artwork from Sal Annunizato ’14, Kevin Lehman, and Nate Nixdorf.
“The Power of Faces” photography exhibit opens in Walton Gallery on Monday, August 30. This gallery, features photographs by Daniel Farber Huang p ’22, and focuses on the global refugee crisis. Daniel, his wife Teresa Menders, and their daughter Celeste Huang-Menders ’22, travel across the world taking pictures of and for refugees.
The George School Athletics Department is pleased to announce seasoned aquatics coach, Brandon Hullings, as the new Aquatics Director effective August 2021. “Brandon brings deep swimming and coaching experience,” said Athletics Director, Kurt Ruch.
George School is pleased to announce a new student-centered daily schedule beginning August 30, 2021. The new schedule is based on extensive research on what is best for adolescent learning and well-being. It will feature four classes per day for 75-minute periods in an 8-day rotation.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Office recently added livened up the walls with a painting by recent IB Diploma Program Alumnus, Edwin Onyango ’21.
The new Summer Academy Writing Workshop, led by George School English teacher Chris King, gave students the chance to read and write in a completely new way. The three-week course allowed students to dive into different aspects of creative writing, including fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
During the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year, George School implemented a bi-weekly testing program for students and employees. The program ran from January through May, and more than 4,000 tests were conducted.
