Field Hockey Captures Quaker Cup

Led by Captains Katie Rose Hendry ’22, Claire Roche ’22, Anjali Amin ’22, and Leyna Kirsh ’22, and Forward, Genesis Chalmers ’22, the Cougars finished the season as Quaker Cup Champions with a 9-7 record including six shut-outs.

Bench Dedicated in Memory of “Everyone’s Mother,” Pam Machemer

On Tuesday, October 19 more than seventy alumni, faculty, and students gathered on campus to honor the life of beloved teacher, friend, and advisor Pam Machemer. During the ceremony, a bench was dedicated to Pam’s memory, a charge led by boys’ varsity soccer player, Bill Becker ’22.

George School Hosts 68th Annual Cross-Country Invitational

On Saturday, September 25, 2021, the George School Cougars hosted the 68th annual George School Cross-Country Invitational. A total of five hundred and thirteen athletes from eighteen neighboring public and independent high schools traveled to Newtown to compete.

Brandon Hullings Named Aquatics Director

The George School Athletics Department is pleased to announce seasoned aquatics coach, Brandon Hullings, as the new Aquatics Director effective August 2021. “Brandon brings deep swimming and coaching experience,” said Athletics Director, Kurt Ruch.

Six George School Students Commit to College Athletics

Six seniors from the Class of 2021 have committed to college athletic programs. The student athletes—in four different sports—celebrated their commitment to pursue their passion at the college level next year. In a ceremony held in the Fitness and Athletics Center, each senior was recognized by their families, coaches, teammates, and friends on Friday, May 21, 2021.

Shannon McGinnis ’17 Wins Multiple Athletic Awards

George School alum Shannon McGinnis ’17 was awarded the Smith College Pioneer Powerhouse Athlete of the Year award as well as being named to the Marly Pineda Team. While at George School, Shannon played varsity soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and field hockey.

Hana Oh ’24 Wins FSL Individual Championship

Hana Oh ’24 won the individual championship as she led the Cougars to a third-place finish in the Friends School League (FSL) Golf Championship on May 11, 2021. Hana shot an 81 to win by 4 strokes over Westtown on the challenging par 71 at White Manor Country Club in Malvern.

A Fond Farewell to Debbie DiMicco ’72

This spring, the George School community will say goodbye to longtime teacher, coach, and Friend, Debbie DiMicco ’72, as she retires from George School. Prior to rejoining the George School community in 1979 to teach French, Debbie taught in France after graduating from Swarthmore College.
