George School Welcomes Families for Visiting Day 2020

George School is pleased to welcome parents and families to attend our virtual Family Visiting Day on Saturday, October 17, 2020. Parents and families will have the opportunity to learn about their child’s classes, meet with teachers during conferences, and join Head of School Sam Houser as he delivers his annual address.

Rosetta Lee Challenges Community to Recognize Their Biases

Rosetta Lee, teacher, and outreach specialist at the Seattle Girl’s School, recently spoke at assembly, focusing on implicit and unconscious bias in everyday life. She has been a diversity speaker and trainer since 2004, working with a variety of topics including cross-cultural communication, identity development, gender and sexuality diversity, and bias.

Register Now for the Summer Open House

George School will host a Virtual Open House for prospective students and families this summer on Thursday, July 16 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. EST. A panel of students, faculty, and members of the admission team will be live on Zoom to share information about the George School curriculum and community. There will be opportunities for attendees to ask questions about student life, academics, athletics, and many other topics to the panelists throughout the event.

Virtual Alumni Reunions and Events

Alumni Weekend 2020 was supposed to celebrate the classes ending in 0s and 5s, highlighted by the Class of 1970 celebrating their 50th reunion, from May 1-3 this past spring. However, reunion plans had to be put on hold due to the current pandemic. Despite these circumstances, classes found other creative ways to congregate that weekend virtually.

On Sunday, May 24, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. George School celebrated the members of the Class of 2020 during the school’s one hundred and twenty-sixth commencement ceremony. A recording of the ceremony and of Commencement Meeting for Worship are available online.

Commencement 2020

On Sunday, May 24 we will celebrate our Class of 2020 at a virtual commencement ceremony. The ceremony will begin with our traditional music, Appalachian Spring. Head of School Sam Houser will deliver the commencement address, followed by a student invocation. The names of each graduate will be called, and, technology permitting, we hope to have each student join the ceremonies live when named. Throughout there will be student performances.

Children of Eden Has Genesis at George School

Children of Eden takes to the Walton stage on Friday, February 21, 2020, and Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. Performances are free and open to the public.“The musical gives us the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the art of storytelling,” says Director and Arts Department Head Mo West, as it tells—and sings—the tales of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Noah and the flood.
