Children's Center
Our Philosophy
We strive to recognize the individuality of each child in an atmosphere where children are nurtured to explore, ask questions, and experiment in learning-centered activities.
The George School Children's Center (GSCC) provides a safe and stimulating, play based environment that focuses on the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth of each child. Children are encouraged to participate at their own level of development.
Supported by The Creative Curriculum Program published by Teaching Strategies, teachers build on daily routines and create meaningful learning experiences in an environment that responds to each child’s individual needs.
About the Children's Center
We are a year-round center with a school year program and a summer program.
There are four classrooms in our center:
-
Bright Stars (ages 6 weeks to 1 year)
- Ramblers (ages 1 to 2 years)
- Butterflies (ages 2 to 3 years)
- Owls (ages 3 to 5 years).
The GSCC hours are 7:30 a.m.to 5:30 p.m.
We transition children to the next classroom at the beginning of our school year program each year based on their age September 1st. Young toddlers must be one year old by September 1st and older toddlers must be 2 years old by September 1st. Our mixed-age Preschool classroom includes children who are age 3 or 4 by September 1st.

Meet Corentha Bradley-Esaw, Director of the Children's Center
George School is pleased to welcome Corentha Bradley-Esaw as the new Director of the Children’s Center. Working in early childhood education for over 12 years, Corentha is excited about joining the George School Children’s Center team and collaborating with a strong team of dedicated professionals.
Corentha believes in the importance of building a strong foundation for a child’s future through early childhood education, knowing that the first three years of a child’s life are incredibly important.
Making an impact on a child and their family, and seeing children grow and thrive as young learners, brings her a great sense of purpose.
“I love the little ones, they give you energy, they give you strength,” said Corentha.
At the George School Children’s Center my child learns through the Quaker values of simplicity and peacefulness. Here she begins her lifelong education by learning through play. Children commencing their exploration of the world at GSCC develop a love of learning. Education is enriched by the inherent diversity and generous sharing of skills by both parents and extended staff of the campus. The students, parents, and teachers together create an atmosphere of friendly acceptance. The children are encouraged with positivity and treated as individuals by all members of this gentle community. My child is gathering life tools to assist her along each path she chooses. Each Friends light shines brightly at the GSCC.Maria J.

The George School community—rooted in Quaker values and composed of global citizens—is committed to inclusiveness and equal opportunity. The school does not discriminate in its admission, educational, or employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, genetic information, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
Our goal is to be a community where people with vastly different backgrounds, identities, and perspectives are united in their mutual respect for one another and the pursuit of a common good. This belief is reflected in the school’s motto, “Mind the Light.”
