“We have a lot of guys coming out for the team, more than we’ve had in the past,” says Rex Trice ’18 a linebacker on this year’s varsity football team. “We had a student-run campaign where we tried to recruit kids already at the school to come out for the team and we got some new people for this year. We have a lot of young guys and guys who are new to the program. So as a senior, I feel that I really need to step up and try to lead the team and be a role model.”

Last year’s squad finished only 3-5, but the team had a lot of challenges to overcome, including the retirement of longtime coach John Gleeson ’65. George Long, boys’ athletic director took over and will remain head coach for the upcoming season. “Last year things were different but now we’re used to the changes and I think everyone is willing to work hard and listen to the coaches. Coach Long is one of my favorite coaches,” said Rex.
