Cougars Set Records at State Track and Field Championships

The George School Cougars set new records at the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association meet on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Abby Eisold ’20 set a new state record of 14.98 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and Sanaa Hebron ’22 set a state title in the 400-meter race at 56.93 seconds. Several athletes on both the boys’ and the girls’ teams set new personal records.

The varsity girls’ track team placed third out of sixteen teams competing. Abby led the Cougars, capturing two state titles in the high jump and the 100-meter hurdles. Sanaa took first place in the 400-meter and ran the winning leg for the state champion 4×400 team that included Amerley Lokko ’19, Nora Greer ’19, and Claryn Troup ’19. Ashleigh Azan ’19 also had a big day with two second place finishes in the 300-meter hurdles and the high jump.

The varsity boys’ track team placed tenth with strong performances by Jeffrey Love ’19, who took third place in the 3200-meter race, and Darayus Gorimaar ’19, who took third in pole vault. The 4×100 team of Miles Pinnock ’19, Mav Vaughn ’19, Jordan West ’19, and Walter Owino Wagude ’20 also took third in their race.

Miles set a new personal record in the 100-meter and 200-meter races and Jordan set a new personal record in the 400-meter race. Edward Abban ’21 set two new personal records in the shot put and the discus events.
