Faculty and Staff Head Back to Class

During the month of February, George School faculty and staff will participate in the 2018 Shadow a Student Challenge—a program that brings adults back to the classroom. Last year, over twenty faculty and staff participated in the program by shadowing a student for the day. The challenge was brought back this year at the request of Student Council.

During their shadow day, adults are asked to participate in class discussions, complete assignments, and take tests or quizzes if scheduled. Participants are even encouraged to attend after school activities, such as sports or theater rehearsals, if their schedule permits.

“I think what was most valuable about my experience last year was seeing how many different directions our students are pulled in every day,” commented Tova Meyer associate director of college counseling. “I talk to kids about their courses and schedules all the time, but walking through it with a student—though just for one day—helped me have a much better sense of what preparing for and engaging in all those different classes is like.”

The challenge will take place February 19 through March 2, 2018. Faculty or staff members that wish to participate should contact Meredith Alford at malford@georgeschool.org.
