George School and FSL Announce Partial Resumption of Interscholastic League Competition

George School, in partnership with the Friends Schools League (FSL), is pleased to announce the resumption of interscholastic league competition in basketball and swimming effective immediately and continuing through mid-March.

Recognizing the paramount importance of public health and safety in the midst of an ongoing pandemic, the League has adopted a comprehensive set of Covid-19 mitigation practices that will be in place for all competitions. Key provisions include, regular Covid-19 testing for all athletes, prohibiting in-person spectators for all contests and mandatory mask wearing at all times for all participants, coaches and officials before, during and after competition with an exception only for swimmers while in the water.

The FSL will continue to seek input from medical advisory boards and Certified Athletic Trainers at each institution in addition to adhering to relevant national, state and local public health guidelines as League play moves forward. League play for boys’ basketball and girls’ basketball is set to begin on Saturday, February 13.

League competition for swimming will take the form of virtual meets and in-person dual meets and began earlier this week.

Member institutions of the FSL include: Abington Friends School, Academy of the New Church, Friends’ Central School, Friends Select School, George School, Germantown Friends School, Moorestown Friends School, Shipley School, Westtown School.
