George School Announces Hall of Athletic Honor

George School is excited to announce the formation of The George School Hall of Athletic Honor, which will soon honor an inaugural round of inductees. The mission statement reads, “The George School Hall of Athletic Honor exists to recognize and honor George School student-athletes, coaches, teams, alumni, and sports contributors for their achievements and/or contributions to George School athletics.”

Committee member and George School science teacher Pacho Gutierrez ’77 says, “The importance of the Hall of Athletic Honor is that it gives us the chance to celebrate our past athletes and coaches while making them known to our current ones.”

The committee hopes that The Hall of Athletic Honor will bring people together across disciplines, teams, and eras to celebrate achievements.

“I hope it will bring people back to the school,” said Trustee Kassem Lucas ’90. “I hope it will generate support for the school and athletics.”

“George School has had great athletes, coaches, and teams,” said faculty member Robert Machemer ’92. “This Hall of Athletic Honor provides a way for different generations to connect and learn about each other, recognizing brilliant performers and performances from different times in the school’s past. For future athletes, coaches, and teams, it provides a dream of lasting recognition to which to aspire.”
