George School Celebrates Virtual Alumni Weekend 2021

This year’s Alumni Weekend featured four days of virtual events and activities for alumni to reconnect and reminisce about their cherished George School memories.

Over 600 alumni registered for Alumni Weekend 2021 from Thursday, April 29 – Sunday, May 2. This year’s event featured four days of virtual events and activities for classmates to reconnect and reminisce about their cherished George School memories.

The weekend kicked off with a Career Networking Event where alumni met with one another to share their career stories and advice with one another.

The inaugural Hall of Athletic Honor Induction Ceremony was also held to recognize those who have had an enduring impact on George School, its athletics, and the community. This year’s inductees included Anne LeDuc, Paul Machemer ’65, Robert Geissinger, Elaine Maddox ’83, and Stanley Sutton. Read more about the inductees here and watch the Hall of Athletic Honor video.

Retiring faculty members Debbie DiMicco ’72 and Marion Wells p ’13 were honored, and alumni had the opportunity to visit with favorite faculty members from the past and present. Head of School Sam Houser also delivered the State of the School Address.

A special Alumni Awards Ceremony recognized Jaki Shelton Green ’71 (Distinguished Alumni Award), Lila Anton ’01 (Young Alumni Award), and Betty Lou Thompson ’56 and Mike Kosoff ’56  (Lifetime Service Award).

Other activities throughout the weekend included affinity gatherings, a presentation by the Admission Office, a faculty panel on teaching and learning in the time of COVID-19, and a virtual campus tour including a Q&A with current students. Family and friends also gathered for Memorial Meeting for Worship to remember classmates who have passed away.
