During the 2017–2018 school year George School is celebrating its quasquicentennial—better known as the school’s 125th anniversary.
As part of the celebration, an interactive, digital timeline was added to the school’s website. “We did our best to include moments from each decade in George School’s 125 year history,” said Susan Quinn, director of digital communications who spearheaded the project. “The timeline has a different look and feel than the rest of the website. It is more visual and encourages user interaction. Nearly each block allows users to click to learn more about that particular story.”
The timeline begins in November of 1887 when John M. George left the majority of his estate “for the purpose of erecting a boarding school” and continues through present day. In addition to the timeline, George School will share a fun fact each Friday of the school year on social media.
“We are really hoping that our community, including those that follow us on social media, will take the time to visit the timeline to learn more about George School’s past. We have accomplished a lot in the last 125 years, and though there is still a lot to come, we have so much to be proud of,” said Susan.
