George School Welcomes Families for Visiting Day 2020

George School is pleased to welcome parents and families to attend our virtual Family Visiting Day on Saturday, October 17, 2020. Parents and families will have the opportunity to learn about their child’s classes, meet with teachers during conferences, and join Head of School Sam Houser as he delivers his annual address.

The day begins at 8:00 a.m. and Sam speaks at 11:15 a.m. Not to be missed is the virtual social event on Friday, October 16, 2020, where families are invited to attend an online gathering to meet and chat with other families.

One of the program highlights this year is the Zoom presentation by nationally recognized diversity consultant Rosetta Lee who will offer a workshop on Parenting with Identity in Mind at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17. Rosetta will discuss such topics as:

  • How do we learn about our various group identities like female, African American, Buddhist, homosexual, middle class, etc.?
  • Why do some people develop proud and healthy self identity and others experience own-group shame and hatred?
  • How can we, in age appropriate ways, instill positive self identity in our children and coach them to be positive influences on others’ identities?
  • How can we work together to co-create inclusive communities that work toward success for all?

Visiting Day coincides with Fall Break that begins after a student’s last school commitment on Friday, October 16. There are no classes on Monday, October 19. Classes resume on ‘Tuesday, October 20 at 8:30 a.m. EDT.
