The varsity girls’ soccer team opened their 2017 Friends League season with a 2-1 loss during a very competitive game against first-place Moorestown Friends who needed a goal late in the game to beat the Cougars.

“Looks may be deceiving when looking at the George School record posted so far this season. The Cougars are 3-5 overall, 0-1 in the Friends Schools League. But there are a lot of positives in those numbers,” reported Joe Fite, correspondent for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Joe continued, “Let’s start with a 4-1 nonleague win over Hill School. That totally reversed a 1-0 loss to the Blues in a scrimmage at the beginning of the season. There was a 2-1 nonleague victory over Calvary Christian and a 1-0 nonleague win over Conwell-Egan.”

“We’re progressing,” said Head Coach John Stevens. “We’re getting better every day. The whole team is working really hard.”

New freshmen Lauren Hanna and Ella Davidyock and returning team members Alexandra Long ’20, Julianna Caplin ’18 and Cynthia Menna ’18 and keeper Nora Greer ’19 have had standout starts, reported Joe.
