Harlem Globetrotter, La’Keisha Sutton Joins Coaching Staff

La’Keisha Sutton, former professional basketball player and current Harlem Globetrotter, will be helping girls’ varsity basketball Head Coach, Rachel Agosto, on the court this year. La’Keisha’s basketball career started in the fourth grade when she joined an all-boys basketball team and she’s been breaking barriers ever since.

Athletic Director, Kurt Ruch said, “La’Keisha will bring so much to George School, more than just on the court. She will bring a positive influence to the kids, to the school, and in all of our lives.”

La’Keisha grew up not too far from George School in Trenton, New Jersey, where she attended Trenton Catholic Academy. Her senior year she was named the Gatorade Player of the Year and Trentonian Player of the Year.

She went on to play four years of basketball at the University of South Carolina, for American Basketball Hall of Fame Player and Coach, Dawn Staley. While at University of South Carolina, La’Keisha was nicknamed ‘Fan Favorite.”

La’Keisha played for teams in Taiwan, Finland, Ecuador, Germany, and Bulgaria before joining the World-Famous Globetrotters in 2018. She is also a published author and still an active member of the Trenton community.

Rachel said that La’Keisha is exactly what the George School community needs right now. “She’s achieved so much success in her life, from coaching Nike Camps, to owning a gym, being a Harlem Globetrotter, and the list goes on and on. She’ll be a role model for everyone, not just the girls on the team.”
