Gabriel Moon ’16 has just claimed a National Championship title in the North American Box Lacrosse League (NABLL)—a major milestone in his athletic journey. The NABLL is the highest level of box lacrosse below the professional tier, featuring players who rotate on and off pro rosters, including those from teams like the Philadelphia Wings.

Competing for the Minneapolis Wheat Kings, Gabriel helped lead the team to its first-ever NABLL title, defeating a powerhouse squad from Maryland. The game was expected to be close, but the Wheat Kings took control early—leading 3–2 after the first quarter, then locking down defensively and entering the fourth up 8–3. With just two minutes remaining, the score was 11–3, as the defense put on a clinic to seal the win.

Gabriel reflected on the emotional victory, “Winning the NABLL championship was a group effort, everyone pulling the rope together and doing their job. Pretty cathartic feeling too, as for the first four years of my box lacrosse career I lost in the national final to the same team. So, to be able to get over that hump and win the Wheat Kings’ first title against that very team was amazing.”

Gabriel is the youngest son of longtime George School staff and faculty members Joanne and Kevin Moon, and brother to GS alum Owen Moon ’13. Known for his fierce competitive spirit on both the lacrosse field and soccer pitch while competing for GS, Gabriel went on to play collegiate lacrosse at Haverford College and now resides in Minneapolis, where he continues to pursue his passion for the sport.
