Cougars Make Strong Statement at First League Meet

George School’s cross country teams kicked off the season with standout performances at Belmont Plateau, the home course of Germantown Friends School. Returning all-league runners Margaret Massengill '26 and Michael Mascari '26 led the charge, each capturing individual victories in their respective races.

In the boys’ tri-meet against GFS and Shipley, Michael Mascari claimed first place overall with an impressive time of 16:47. He was followed by Owen Burgess '27 in 4th, with Deagan Hopkins '28, Miki Barrant '27, and Asher Schmidt '29 rounding out the Cougar scoring. Despite a strong showing, the tight pack running from the opposing teams edged out GS, with final scores of GFS 32, Shipley 44, and George School 53.

On the girls’ side, Senior Margaret Massengill dominated the field, winning the race in 19:47. She was supported by solid performances from Shelby Nesbitt '26, Daphne Simkins '29, Alina Pang '26, and Isabelle Coleman '26, showcasing the depth and promise of the Cougar squad.
