On Saturday, September 16, 2017 George School hosted the 65th annual George School Invitational. Jeffrey Love ’19 took first place, finishing the race in 16:33. Just seven days earlier, Jeffrey took first place in Bristol’s Mill Street Run setting a school record of 15:33.

“George School cross country runners had a number of personal bests in this year’s competition,” said Mike Bailey senior athletics director. “In fact, we had the first place finisher in the varsity boys’ race for the first time in the history of the competition.”

“I’ve been waiting for this moment for two years, so I am very happy,” said Jeffrey. “I wanted to win an invitational since I started at George School. Now that it actually happened, I just look forward to winning next year’s too. Now my goal is to win two George School Invitationals.”

More than six hundred runners from twenty area schools competed on a beautiful course throughout George School’s 240-acre campus. As a team, the varsity girls’ placed twentieth and the varsity boys’ placed ninth. The boys’ junior varsity team placed fifth.

Next up, the George School Cross Country boys’ and girls’ teams take on Friends Select and Moorestown Friends on Tuesday, September 19 at 4:00 p.m.
