George School varsity girls’ basketball defeated The Hun School 45-38 at their first home game of the season on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
“Kaliyah Myricks ’21 posted fourteen points, while teammate Alexandra Long ’20 dished a team high six assists in the Cougars win,” reported the Bucks County Courier Times. “Kaliyah and Alexis Semidey-Martinez ’21 tied for the team high in rebounds with six.”
The team caught fire in the second quarter. The Cougars scored fifteen points after Lauren Hanna ’21 made back-to-back three pointers, and Kaliyah, who made several successful trips to the free throw line.
Ashleigh Azan ’19 contributed a bucket and two rebounds. Courtney Heffelifinger ’19 also found the shooting range just at the right time, scoring two three-pointers and helping the team keep their lead.
Alexis scored a basket in each quarter and finished with ten points. Jennifer McArthur ’19 notched five rebounds, four points, two steals, and two hustle plays. Alexandra navigated the offense and finished with two rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and two steals.
“This was definitely a team effort, as everyone contributed in some way to the victory,” said Coach George Long.
The team’s next home game is Tuesday, January 8, 2019, against Academy of the New Church.
