LASO Weekend. This weekend is sponsored by the Latin American Student Association (LASO), and will celebrate culture and heritage through food, performances, dance, and film. Full schedule.
Message from the Deans. A new permission setting has been added to the student permission page on the parent portal. Under the section marked “Day Visits” a new addition states, “May walk alone to Newtown or Summit Square.” Please mark the space provided if your child is allowed to walk to these places alone. Leave it blank if you prefer that your child walk to these places with a buddy or a group when they leave campus. Thank you!
Parents Association Meeting. The next Parents Association Meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Mollie Dodd Anderson Library Conference Room. Dinner will be served beforehand at 5:30 p.m. in the meetinghouse. Religions teacher Martha Holland will present The Ethic of Excellence: What Differentiates Quaker Schools during the meeting.
Ad-Hoc and Budget Committee Members: The committee will meet this month on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Small Dining Room to prepare the Parents Association budget and review teachers’ funding proposals for the upcoming school year.
College Counseling Presentations. Parents are invited to attend a presentation on Athletics and the College Process on Monday, April 15 from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m. in the MDA Conference room. Parents are also invited to a presentation on Financial Aid and the College Process on Tuesday, April 16 from 6:30 to 7:25 p.m. in the MDA Conference Room where Andrew Strickler, Dean of Admission Financial Aid at Connecticut College, will be presenting.
College Fairs Required for Sophomores and Juniors. Students and parents are invited to attend two upcoming college fairs held on campus Monday, April 15 from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m., and Tuesday, April 16 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. in the Multipurpose Gym in the Fitness and Athletics Center. All sophomores and juniors are required to attend. A different group of colleges will be represented each night. See the list of participating colleges.
Sibling Weekend April 13-14. All siblings (or “sib-equivalents” such as cousins or young friends of the family) are encouraged to come to campus for George School’s annual Sibling Weekend. Learn more and register by Wednesday, April 10.
