George School Students Celebrate 125 Years. Students will have the opportunity to celebrate George School’s 125th anniversary with their own event We Are the World in Alumni Gym on Saturday, October 20 from 7:00 to 10:30 p.m. The event will take place while parents, alumni, faculty, and staff over the age of twenty-one are attending Embrace the World, the dinner, dance, and auction in the Fitness and Athletics Center. The student celebration will consist of a glow dance, an international food truck festival, and prize giveaways. Open Doors Weekend. Students can enjoy a fun fall weekend with music and s’mores on Red Square, an apple picking trip to Solebury Orchard, an exploration of New Hope, cookie decorating, and activities in the Fitness and Athletics Center. There will also be service-learning opportunities available for students to assist at the Wrightstown Farmers Market and the Greyhound Rescue Center in Philadelphia. Full weekend schedule.
Parents Visiting Day. On Saturday, October 20, attend fifteen minute classes in the morning to learn about the courses your child is taking, join Head of School Sam Houser for his annual address at 11:00 a.m. in Walton Auditorium, and participate in informational seminars in the afternoon. The day will start at 7:30 a.m. and end at 3:40 p.m. with lunch available between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Online conference scheduling is now open. Parents Association Meeting Next Wednesday! All parents are encouraged to attend the next Parents Association meeting on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the MDA Library Conference Room. A light dinner will be served beforehand in the meetinghouse from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. If you are unable to join us in person, you can attend by webcast. Learn more.
Admission Open House. Meet students, faculty, and staff, and experience the wonder of George School during our fall Open House on Sunday, October 28. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and the program starts promptly at 2:00 p.m. Parking will be available at the Fitness and Athletics Center on Farm Drive, across from the meetinghouse. Current families are encouraged to stop by the Admission Office to pick up a yard sign to proudly display on their front lawn as we approach this exciting event! Call for Host Families. Are you interested in hosting an international student during a school break? The Deans’ Office is looking for host families for Thanksgiving Break, November 16 to 26, and Midwinter Break, February 1 to 4. If you think you might be able to host a student for part or all of one of those breaks, please email Eric Wolarsky in the Deans’ Office.
PSAT/NMSQT Test. All sophomores and juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT at George School on Wednesday, October 10 at 8:00 a.m. Please encourage students to spend time with the PSAT practice booklet, which contains a full-length practice test and will familiarize them with the test format, policies, and procedures.
Class of 2020. College Counseling, in collaboration with Kaplan Test Prep, will offer a FREE Practice ACT on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the MDA Library Conference Room. Students received this information during the class meeting on September 28, and were sent a link to sign up on October 1. Space is limited! Please remind your student to sign up if they are interested!
