A Virtual Look: Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition

Members of the George School community are invited to view a new virtual art exhibit featuring work from members of the visual arts faculty. The exhibit will remain on display through Friday, February 12, 2021. A virtual gallery talk and reception is planned for Friday, January 29, 2021. 

Planning in a Pandemic: Admission

Due to the global health pandemic, the Admission Office has had to rethink their approach to showcase all George School has to offer digitally to prospective students and families around the world. We spoke to Co-Director of Admission, Rohan Arjun ’05, to learn more about what has changed and what’s available now for prospective families. 

George School Teacher Featured in Woodworking Exhibit

George School woodworking teacher, Carter Sio ’76, was selected to exhibit multiple pieces in the Works in Wood 2020 annual art show. The exhibit brings together work from 40 different contemporary artists, while also celebrating “the woodworking heritage of Bucks County.”

Amnesty International Club Recognized for its Artistic Activism

Competing with more than two hundred groups, George School’s Amnesty International Club is one of eight winners of the 2020 ActivismX challenge. ActivismX is an initiative that encourages students to take action for human rights after returning to school campuses each fall. This year, projects focused on the AIUSA RightsNow! campaign, which puts human rights concerns at the center of the hardships caused by COVID-19.

Chris Toala ’21 Named Hispanic Scholar

George School is proud to share that Chris Toala ’21 was chosen by the College Board to be a National Recognition Program: Hispanic Scholar for excellence in academic achievement. The College Board website states, “The College Board National Recognition Programs grant student academic honors that can be included on college applications.

Kaliyah Myricks ’21 Signs With Georgetown

Girls’ Basketball Co-Captain, Kaliyah Myricks ’21, signed a National Letter of Intent committing to play basketball at Big East Division I powerhouse Georgetown University on Wednesday, November 11, in the Fitness and Athletics Center.

Aidan Sheehan ’21 Starts Project Re-Stock

This August, Aidan Sheehan ’21 started Project Re-stock, an initiative to help replenish local food pantries. As a resident of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, he wanted to give back to his community by focusing on helping local foodbanks.

Legendary Rock Photographer Zooms with Students

Legendary rock ‘n roll photographer, Mick Rock, recently made a virtual visit to Meredith Baldi ’01 and Scott Seraydarian’s ’90 media literacy class, Producing Peace. The class teaches students how media manipulates its viewers to feel and act in certain ways.

Safi Baadarani-Feeney ’22 Collects School Supplies for Lebanon

George School student Safi Baadarani-Feeney ’22 found a way to help those impacted by this summer’s explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, by partnering with Beit El Baraka, a non-profit which has directed its efforts towards assisting with recovery from the incident. Safi has family members that were directly impacted by the explosion and while they were not harmed, he wanted to do something to help the community.
