George School Students Place at Video Contest

The student film Seeger’s Seek of Truth by David Xi ’21 and Eric Guo ’21 won third place in the prestigious Robert F. Kennedy Speak Truth to Power Video Contest. The film focuses on Daniel Seeger and his fight for the right to conscientious objection.

IB and AP Results Highlight George School’s Academics

George School is once again pleased to share the exciting results of the 2020 International Baccalaureate Diploma and Advanced Placement tests. This year, fifty-five George School seniors were IB candidates and fifty-two students earned their diplomas, maintaining George School’s ten-year 95 percent completion rate.

A New School Year Kicks Off

The 2020-2021 school year began on Monday, August 31, 2020, but for the first time in George School’s history, students met their teachers and classmates through a computer screen, not in the classroom, for the start of school.

Terry Culleton Featured in Literary Journal

For former George School English Teacher Terry Culleton, retirement has meant a period of great productivity as he further hones his craft as a published poet. His poem “Viparinama” is the featured poem in the September issue of the literary journal Better Than Starbucks.

George School Announces Hall of Athletic Honor

George School is excited to announce the formation of The George School Hall of Athletic Honor, which will soon honor an inaugural round of inductees. The mission statement reads, “The George School Hall of Athletic Honor exists to recognize and honor George School student-athletes, coaches, teams, alumni, and sports contributors for their achievements and/or contributions to George School athletics.”

Matthew Fine ’82 Appointed Head of Runnymede Corporation

Virginia sculptor, gallerist, and self-storage business owner Matthew Fine ’82 was recently appointed head of the Runnymede Corporation, a commercial real estate company founded by his grandfather in 1958. Matthew is not new to Runnymede, or to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach region. He has served on the company board for more than 30 years.
