Theater Students Pilot New IB Curriculum

George School Theater students are part of a pilot project for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization to test a new curriculum for their global theater arts program. One of their four tasks within the IB Theater curriculum is to create a collaborative performance project that is seven to ten minutes long.

Students and Faculty Cross Disciplines for IB

2020 Quaker Youth Conference to be held at George School

On Thursday, January 30, 2020 one hundred and fifty students and teachers from twenty-three Friends high schools from the US and Canada will descend upon the George School campus to participate in the 2020 Quaker Youth Leadership Conference (QYLC). George School last hosted in 2010.

Students Selected for Phillips’ Mill Exhibit

George School is pleased to announce that seven students have been selected to exhibit at the 2020 Phillips’ Mill Youth Art Exhibition. One student has been recognized with an honorable mention.

Ben Luber Leads Team to Winning Season

Coach Ben Luber joined the George School community just two months before leading the varsity boys’ basketball team to their first win. Since that time, the team has gone on to have a 10-5 record, including winning the last seven games.

Walton Exhibit Tells Story of Coal Mining

Caleb Savage ’11 presented his documentary photography exhibit, The Hard Coal Project, in a gallery talk and reception on Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Walton Center. His photos range from dynamic images of strip mines and culm banks that overlook the region, to more personal shots of people who populate the area.

Geno McDermott ’04 Brings Killer Inside to Netflix

Netflix’s new documentary series Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez debuted after much anticipation on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. The three-episode series, produced and directed by Geno McDermott ’04, explores the former NFL player’s involvement in the 2015 murder of his future brother-in-law, his prison suicide, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

Faculty Members Heading to EDUCon

Faculty members Chris Odom, Brian Patton, and Academic Technology Integrationist Howard M. Glasser will present at the EDUCon Conference in Philadelphia on January 25 at 3:00 p.m.
