George School Celebrates 126th Commencement
Marie Plaisime ’08 was one of forty students selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Research scholar in 2017. Marie is a second-year doctoral student of medical sociology at Howard University and the first student of the university selected for the honor.
Frederick Edwards ’18 received Eagle Scout honors, the highest rank attainable in the scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. He built benches for the playground at the Bucks County Homeless Shelter for his Eagle Scout service project because he saw so much need there.
A hanging wall shelf, created by George School woodworking and design teacher, Carter Sio ’76, is part of the Works in Wood show hosted by New Hope Arts Center. This annual juried exhibition celebrates the woodwork tradition of Bucks County, and runs through Sunday, January 7, 2018.
“Breast Forms Permutated” by Martha Wilson ’65 is on display through January 14, 2018, at Met Breuer, The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s contemporary art outpost located at 945 Madison Avenue in New York City. The work is included in the “Delirious: Art at the Limits of Reason, 1950-1980” exhibition.
Members of the George School community came together to express their thanks at the beginning of this holiday season. Inspired by our school motto “Mind the Light,” this year’s holiday greeting celebrates the magic of light as it illuminates our wishes during our quasquicentennial year.
Sara Lomax-Reese ’83 was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Philadelphia, as ranked by Philadelphia Magazine. She is known as a mover and shaker, both for her work in radio and for her impact on local boards.
Julia Wilson ’18 and Isabella Robinson-Cloete ’20 were named to the Friends Schools League (FSL) girls’ field hockey All-League Team. Eva Kinnel ’20 was recognized with an Honorable Mention.
Alexandra Long ’20 was named to the Friends Schools League (FSL) girls’ soccer All-League Team, and Julianna Caplin ’18 was recognized with an Honorable Mention.
Three George School varsity cross country athletes were named to Friends Schools League (FSL) All-League Teams. Jeffrey Love ’19 was named to the FSL All-League Team. Darayus Gorimaar ’19 and Janaia Madden ’20 were recognized with an Honorable Mention.
