New Student Orientation
The George School New Student Orientation (NSO) welcomes new students and helps prepare them for George School’s life. “Over the week, students will learn skills and approaches to help them thrive here,” said Ben Croucher, NSO director and History Department head. NSO includes academic, physical, and spiritual components—as well as some time for fun.
Students attending New Student Orientation this year are organized into eight groups or pods with day and boarding students separated to observe safety protocols in place during the pandemic. The sample daily schedule below will vary by group, but it demonstrates the variety of daily activities students will experience. The NSO program ends at 1:00 p.m. for students who are participating in the distance learning option.
Additional information is available on our Frequently Asked Questions page.
New students should expect to use their own laptops during orientation. It is important that before arriving on campus, students should:
- Log in to their email at o365.georgeschool.org. Their email address is in the format of username@georgeschool.org. For example: studentn23@georgeschool.org. It is the same password that they use to log in to the Portal at my.georgeschool.org.
- Complete the New Student Technology Orientation course in Canvas. Students can access Canvas by logging in to the Portal at my.georgeschool.org and clicking “Canvas LMS” in the Quick Links sidebar on the left side of the page, or directly at georgeschool.instructure.com, where they may be prompted to log in with their username and password.
Any student who does not have their username/password, or has been unable to access the Portal, their Office 365 account, or the New Student Technology Orientation course should contact the IT Service Desk at 215-579-6560 or servicedesk@georgeschool.org.
