Phoenix Jarrett ’21

Kingston, JamaicaEmory University
At George School, Phoenix has discovered new interests—some she didn’t know about and some she thought she did.

Is there a person who made a big impact on you?

One of my prefects last year, Ashleigh, was not only a prefect to me, but also a friend and a big sister. She was always there for me to talk to. If I ever needed advice, I knew I could go to her.

What was your most interesting class?

Last year my favorite class was graphic design. It was my first experience with the subject. The class allowed me to be creative and express myself in the way that I wanted. It helped me find a new passion.

What lessons have you learned on a team?

I used to avoid team sports, as the pressure I felt with other people depending on me was sometimes too much. Being on the field hockey and cheerleading teams at George School has changed my perspective of team sports. I learned a lot about being encouraging and supportive of others, teamwork, and trying your hardest always.
