Scott Seraydarian ’90 Publishes Curse of the Crystal Cavern

The Pathfinders are off on another adventure in their newest graphic novel, The Curse of the Crystal Cavern, co-authored by Prescott (Scott) Seraydarian ’90, George School Film teacher. Scott and writing partner Fransesco Sedita will discuss their new book at a virtual event sponsored by the Doylestown Bookshop and Mercer Museum on the day of its release, Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 6:00 p.m.

This book is the second installment of their graphic novel series, The Pathfinders Society. The story resumes the action-packed adventures of five campers who are searching for a hidden treasure left by mysterious and wealthy explorer Henry Merriweather, inspired by the Doylestown-native archaeologist and artist Henry Mercer.

“A legendary hidden treasure, a guy collects stuff in a mysterious castle and five cool kids trying to connect the dots and save the day. What’s not to love here?” says Max Brallier, author of The Last Kids on Earth series.

Scott and Francesco met as roommates at New York University and have been working on projects together ever since. After developing the storyline for almost twelve years, Scott and Francesco wrote the series with the hopes of creating books that can be enjoyed while stuck inside on a rainy summer day. It was originally inspired by classic stories they grew up with including The Goonies, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Scooby Doo.

Kirkus Review says, “Sedita and Seraydarian’s plot packs a ton of humor, mystery, and action to enthrall fans of fantastical fun adventures. Hamaker’s artwork, meanwhile, offers just the right amount of zany energy in its paneling and its eye-catching use of colors and secondary details. Marvelously clever and cool.”

Scott gave the George School community a special shoutout in his dedication page. He writes, “To my students, for teaching me so much.”

Don’t forget to join Scott and Francesco as they discuss the book with Karina Kowalski, Manager of Education at the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. If you want to find out what is next for the Pathfinders, you can find the book at the Doylestown Bookshop or on Amazon, available July 13, 2021.
