Student Leadership

Each year, the Admission Team seeks 10-12 current Ambassadors to become Lead Ambassadors, who are student leaders integral to their work in Admission. Leads are asked to train new ambassadors and help them be successful, serve as panelists at various events, like Celebration for Accepted Students Day, give tours to VIP visitors, and other needs of the department.

Meet our 2024-25 Ambassadors!

The Community Wellness Council (CWC) focuses on student self-care, wellness, and holistic health with the goal of helping the community navigate through the vicissitudes of adolescence, while also destigmatizing emotional sharing. The CWC is comprised of tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders with strong emotional intelligence who are capable of planning events, moderating discussions, and developing community programming. This group undergoes annual leadership training.

Three faculty members appointed by the Faculty Nominating Committee, a dean (generally the assistant head of school for student and community life), students’ advisors, dorm staff members, day student sponsors, and prefects join these students, determining disciplinary responses to students who break major school rules. 

The international student mentors play a vital role in orienting new international students during New Student Orientation (NSO) in August and continue to support new international students in their adjustment to George School life during the school year. Mentors develop programs and workshops of special interest to the international student community, plan and chaperone field trips, supervise and coordinate the production of the international student assembly, and select and train future mentors. 

Students selected to be NSO Captains participate in the planning and execution of New Student Orientation activities. They are cheerful and hospitable ambassadors to new students arriving in the George School community. They help facilitate the planned activities for NSO, and they bring a fun and energetic personality to their work.

The Student Activities Board is a group of students who help create and implement weekend activities that will engage both boarding and day students. Members of the Student Activities Board work closely with the director of student activities to ensure weekend activities meet the diverse needs of our community and provide activities that are enriching, empower students to explore new interests, have safe spaces to explore their talents and have opportunities to bond with each other as well as share cultural awareness.  Student Activities Board members receive co-op credit for their participation.

Student Library Leaders connect peers to library resources and services, support programming and outreach, and help maintain library collections and spaces. The role offers a unique chance to gain experience in library operations, enhance your resume and college application, and make a difference in the GS community. Student Library Leaders receive co-op credit.
