Students Star in The Laramie Project

The Laramie Project comes to Walton Auditorium February 23 and 24 at 8:00 p.m. Both shows are free and open to the public.

The theater department’s exploration of social issues continues this month with a production of The Laramie Project.

“This production confronts hate crime head-on,” said Mo West director. “The choice not to modify the harsh language was not only legally required by the royalty license, but also artistically intentional by me.”

The Laramie Project looks at the brutal attack and death of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming in October 1998. Focusing on the interviews of townspeople, news coverage, and journal entries the actors portray more than sixty characters in a series of small scenes.
