The Virtual Classroom: Keeping Class Interactive

Science teacher Becky Hutchins uses different applications to keep her Environmental Systems and Societies class interactive and engaging, including Zoom breakout rooms and Padlet. Zoom breakout rooms allowed Becky to split the class into smaller discussions groups that let her to pop into the different rooms to check on how the group’s conversations were progressing.

Becky used Padlet with her class to discuss a report on climate change. Padlet allows students to add questions, thoughts, and observations that may arise from their conversations to a discussion board. The class came back together to answer group’s questions. As Becky read the questions, students answered them, helping them learn from one another.

This isn’t the only class that Becky is teaching using multiple apps to help her students learn. Check out this article about her Chemistry class!
