George School opened its Friends Schools League season with a 5-0 victory over Friends Select School on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

“Playing well from the opening whistle, George School created and squandered several good scoring chances but finally opened its account with a thrilling goal,” reports Paul Machemer ’65, head coach. Midfielder Jordan Valdepeñas-Mellor ’19 broke through the right side of the Friends Select defense and drove the ball into the box where striker Logan Hillegas ’18 converted a diving header.

Three minutes into the second half, strikers Logan Hillegas ’18 and Phil Cavallo ’18 converted brilliant passes from midfielders Liam Mitchell ’19 and Andrew Arth ’19 respectively.

In the seventieth minute midfielder Charles Yeboah ’19 delivered a pass into the path of Eric Yu ’19 who calmly took a touch and slotted the ball home.

Phil would score the fifth goal two minutes later on a pass from Andrew.

The Cougars will host Westtown on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
