Varsity Boys’ Tennis Clinches Playoff Spot

The varsity boys’ tennis team defeated Moorestown Friends School 3-2 on May 3, 2018, securing a spot in the Friends Schools League (FSL) playoffs.

The first doubles team of Eli Faigle ’20 and Sartaj Gill ’18 won their match with a straight set, and the second doubles team of Andreas Makris ’18 and Hari Narayanam ’21 did the same.

Co-captain Praveen Rodrigo ’20 played first singles. “The first set was fiercely contested, but Praveen secured it with a score of 7-5,” said Coach Pacho Gutierrez ’77. “In the second set, Praveen was able to open a comfortable lead by playing disciplined tactical tennis, winning 6-3.” Praveen’s victory secured both the win against Moorestown Friends and a spot in the playoffs.

“Everyone played with tenacity and great sportsmanship,” said Pacho.

The Cougars will head to the FSL semifinals on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
