The varsity boys’ tennis team won three Friends Schools League (FSL) matches in a row in April, defeating Abington Friends, Friends Select, and Friends’ Central.
“George School did not lose a single flight in those three matches,” said Pacho Gutierrez ’77, varsity boys’ tennis coach. “Especially gratifying was defeating our nemesis of many-a-league-championship, Friends’ Central, 5-0.”
The team improved their FSL record to 3-2 and are in sole possession of the fourth and final spot in the team race. With two games remaining, George School needs to win one of these games in order to at least tie for fourth place.
“This has been a rebuilding year for the program after losing five out of seven starters to graduation and injury,” said Pacho. “With only two seniors and six underclassmen in the top spots, the team will only get better over time.”
The varsity boys’ tennis team will play Moorestown Friends at George School on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
