Instructions for International Applicants

George School is pleased to enroll a geographically diverse student body, with current students hailing from more than forty-five different countries. Because George School does not offer a formal English as a Second Language (ESL) program, all students must enter George School with strong foundational English skills.

Before scheduling an interview, all non-native English speakers must complete an interview through DuoLingo or Vericant. We strongly suggest that applicants from Mainland China complete the Vericant process.

Information about Duolingo: This test can be completed online and includes grammar and vocabulary exercises, a brief writing sample, and a short video interview. The test can be accessed 24 hours a day and George School will receive the results from DuoLingo within two business days. To access the DuoLingo English test, please visit the DuoLingo website. There is a $49 fee associated with the assessment, paid directly to DuoLingo.

After reviewing your results, the Admission Office will determine if you are eligible for an interview either on-campus or via Zoom.

George School must receive your DuoLingo English test results by December 15, 2021 to be given priority consideration in the 2021-2022 admission cycle.

Information about Vericant: Vericant offers interviews to help assess English language ability. Vericant will conduct preliminary interviews and candidates will complete short writing samples during their visit with Vericant.

Vericant does not evaluate candidates, but rather sends all information to George School for assessment. George School then will determine which students will be offered a second interview with a member of the George School Admission Office staff.

Students must complete their Vericant appointment by December 15, 2021 to be given priority consideration in the 2021-2022 admission cycle.
