Say Yes to GS

Find out why I said “Yes” to George School.

March 2020

Join Us for the Accepted Student Celebration

With your health and safety in mind, we are moving our Celebration for Accepted Students to a virtual platform. In the coming days and weeks stay tuned for exciting ways to learn more about the academic experience and life at George School, and the tremendous community you are joining.

We are also extending our reply date from April 10 to May 1, 2020, to provide your family with ample time to address the most immediate and pressing issues you may be facing. Our excitement for your child joining George School has not changed and we want you to feel confident as you make the decision to Say Yes to GS!

While we understand you may want to come to campus for an individual revisit day, we are unable to accommodate those requests at this time. In the coming days, look for invitations to join online educational experiences at George School and ways to learn more about the unparalleled opportunities George School provides. These will include live platforms to answer your questions and to connect with other families and students.

George School is proud to have a rich history of over 125 years thriving through change and providing a world-renowned education of mind, body, and spirit. While this moment calls upon us to respond in new ways, we know that you, and George School, will shine together!

International Students: Submit Your I-20 Information

As an international student, you must obtain an I-20 from George School and a F-1 student visa from the US government. It can take weeks to process your requests, so leave yourself as much time as possible. After you have completed your enrollment paperwork, you will need to submit:

  • A photocopy of the biographical page of your child’s valid passport for travel to the United States. The validity date must be at least six months beyond the student’s intended period of stay in the United States.
  • Financial evidence that shows the student’s parents have sufficient funds to cover the tuition and living expenses during the period of intended study. Any financial statements that are provided must be issued in English or be accompanied by a certified English translation.
  • Completed name verification document. The I-20 will be mailed to you via DHL to that address.
  • Students transferring to George School from another academic institution in the United States must send a completed transfer-in form.

If you have any questions, please contact Colby Langweiler at clangweiler@georgeschool.org. You may also go to Your Guide to Studying in the States for further information, or you can email the SEVP Response Center at SEVP@ice.dhs.gov or call +1.703.603.3400.

Review the Academic Calendar for 2020-2021

Check the academic calendar for exam dates, vacation days, and special events.

Plan travel arrangements around these dates as students cannot change the times of their end-of-term exams to accommodate travel.

If you have difficulty logging in, please contact our IT Services Help Desk.

All students must have an annual physical exam between March 1 and August 1, 2020 before the start of the school year. If you miss the August 1 deadline, you will be charged a $100 late fee.

This information will be shared with your child’s advisor, who will work closely with you and your child throughout their time at George School.  The Advisee Profile tells you child’s advisor about your child’s personality and preferences, making sure that he or she has the best possible experience both inside and outside the classroom. Note that advisor assignments will be sent in August.

Ask Your Child to Complete Roommate Survey

To help us in the roommate pairing process, please ask your child to fill out this survey. This survey is one of the many factors George School uses in the rooming process. Dorm assignments will be sent in mid-August, and you will learn who your roommate is when you arrive for orientation.

Please submit the survey only once. You should receive an automatic response indicating your survey is complete. We will reach out to you if we have not received a survey response.
