Summer To-Do List
At George School, we believe that high school teaches lessons about balance. So, while we are excited that you will be joining us for the 2023-2024 academic year, we also wish you a happy, healthy, relaxing, and FUN summer break. See below for a breakdown of your GS summer to-do list; broken out by month, it is designed to help you arrive at George School rested, relaxed, and prepared to have a great year. Happy summertime, and we can’t wait to see you at the start of the year!

MAY

5: Complete your preliminary Health and Wellness Form (access on Parent Portal)
15: Complete Canvas introductory training
15: Complete course selection
20: Take a walk and smell the flowers 💐
31: Complete required course assessments in order to receive course placement by mid-July
JUNE

1: Parents and Guardians: Login to the GS Parent Portal to begin completing registration forms for your child(ren)
20: Celebrate the official start to summertime with a picnic 🧺
30: Complete and submit all registration forms in the section marked “due by June 30.”
30: Students who completed course selections and assessments by May 31 will be notified of course placements by mid-July

31: Complete and submit all health forms in Magnus via the GS Parent Portal

1: Complete and submit all remaining registration items on the GS Parent Portal
1: Confirm your campus arrival date: Preseason athletes, Prefects, International Student leaders and new students: check your email and confirm your arrival date according to the Important Dates Calendar.
10: Boarding Students, begin packing your bags!
18: Complete all remaining summer class assignments

15: Complete course selection: Course selection is completed through the GS Parent Portal.
- Ninth graders: Work with your parent or guardian to complete your course selection through the GS Parent Portal.
- New tenth and eleventh graders: Complete grade-specific course surveys and work directly with the School Office to finalize course selection.
20: Take a walk and smell the flowers 💐
31: New Students: Complete required course assessments in order to receive course placement by the mid-July
JUNE
1: Parents and Guardians: Login to the GS Parent Portal to begin completing registration forms for your child(ren)

JULY
Early this month: Check your George School email account: Email accounts will be assigned to new students by early July. You will be instructed to download and install the Microsoft Office (at no charge). Once your George School email account is activated, you will be instructed to complete a Technology Orientation on Canvas. For most ninth graders, this is the only summer assignment.
1: Work on summer assignments: Every student will have a summer assignment for English. All summer assignments will appear on Canvas once course selections are processed and skills assessments are reviewed.

AUGUST
